ANIMAL HUSBANDRY FOR YOUR HAVEN

The first thing that you say is: “What is animal husbandry?”   Animal Husbandry is raising and breeding of livestock.  Why do we need a Haven Helper who plays with animals?  Unless you want to eat oatmeal and cereal for as long as you are in the Haven (years!!!) you will need protein in order to retain your strength and vitality.
The livestock raiser will be dealing with: ducks, chickens, turkey, geese, rabbits, fish, goats and of course worms.  The ducks will be kept for their ability to debug the garden without eating the garden, so slugs beware.  Also the ducks can lay up to 80 eggs a year.  Never heard of duck eggs?  All of French pastry chefs use duck eggs in their creations.  Chicken, Goose, and turkey are beneficial for any kitchen.   Rabbits are known to multiply and a great source of protein.  Also the rabbits create manure which the worms turn in worm casings which go onto the garden which is three times better than cow manure.  The worms feed the fish who fertilize the plants that grow thru hydroponics.   The goats provide protein and milk which can be hand processed into butter and cheese.
The Animal Husbandry Helper will be helping with the diet for all of the animals and the fish.  The health of each animal will also be the responsibility of this helper.  The breeding and animal production will be very beneficial to the health and the spirit of the Haven.  Remember helpers (man) cannot live on bread alone.
There will also be dogs in the Haven for companionship, alerts, and protection.  They will also need help with diet and health.  So do you feel that you have what it takes with your knowledge of animals and fish to take on this project?  Please feel free to post your information on the skills blog.  Where Are You Going To Go???  Please click here in order to go to Haven's Helper's Skills Blog and click comments and enter your available skills.
