We are going
to have a discussion with two ladies.
Martha is a native of Chicago 26 years old white, never been married who
works at the commodity exchange. Paula
is a native of Dallas 29 years old black, engaged to be married, and works for
a gas distribution company.
Question 1:
What does the 2nd amendment of the constitution say to you?
Martha: I
believe that the right to bear arms means that we a society have changed from a
rural society to an urban one. We do not
need everyone carrying weapons that is a job for the police. People may need to use guns for hunting and
home protection, but it must be strictly regulated.
Paula:
Everyone has the right to bear arms.
When guns are strictly regulated the only people having guns will be the
criminals, as they do not obey the laws.
Question 2: Why
do public officials want to curtail guns for the public?
Paula: There are many reasons that officials want
guns only in the hands of the police and officials. They are afraid that if
they try to take control of the country by force for whatever reason that it will
be very hard to do.
Martha: The curtailment
of guns by public officials is for the public good. The fewer guns which we have on the street
the better off we are. Trust the government to look out for us and take care of
the public good.
Question 3: How
would you protect people in their homes and public places?
Martha: More
gun control and longer sentences for criminals with gun crimes.
Paula:
Everyone needed to be schooled in how to bear arms. The Criminal needs to be
very nervous about breaking into a home or trying to rape or rob citizens.
